March 20, 2007 - Honest and Fair
We
talked what it means to be honest and fair. We discussed examples
from our daily lives where we practice these principals, and the role models we
look up to exhibit these virtues. We expect our leaders to be honest
and fair as well. We talked about George Washington and Abraham
Lincoln. We learned about the new presidential
dollar coins that are available, and all of our Daisies received a George
Washington gold dollar and a holder to collect future coins. They earned
their light blue petal for honesty and fairness.

Make the Word a Better Place
Our
Daisies collected gently used stuffed animals to send to an orphanage in
Russia. The girls had lots of fun packing up the boxes with their
furry friends. The girls also did a show-n-tell about different
countries by showing something that represented their family's heritage, a
tradition or a small treasure from a country that they visited. The
girls earned their light pink petal for making the world a better place.

Friendly and Helpful
The
Daisy girls baked seven dozen cookies today. The cookies will be
donated to the volunteers at the local blood drive. The kitchen
smelled so good with the aroma of fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies. The
girls earned their yellow petal for being "Friendly and Helpful". We
also celebrated Caroline's 6th birthday.

Respect Authority
Officer Keim came to visit our troop with his police dog partners. The
girls had a great meeting and asked many good questions. Officer Keim
brought Dano, a five-year-old golden retriever that was rescued from the
local animal shelter. Dano is specialized in sniffing bombs.
Officer Keim also brought D-O-G, an eight-year-old all black German
shepherd, who specialized in chasing bad guys. The girls earned their
pink petal for learning to respect authority. They also received a fun
patch and a Junior K-9 Officer pin for the police visit.

Responsibility
We
discussed the New Year and resolutions, and we talked about how we can be
more responsible. For our project, each girl made a
Responsibility/Kaper chart. Each Daisy chose which tasks she
wanted as she put her chart together, and went home with a bag pf jewels to
place on her chart.. The girls earned the Orange petal for
learning to be responsible for what they say and do.
