For our Thanksgiving-month, our troop went door to door to collect canned foods for the needy. The girls then decorated the boxes for delivery of the food. They earned their light green petal patch for their work for being considerate and caring.
Our Girl Scout Council of the Nations Capital held their Girl Scout Expo in our neck of the woods this year. Everyone was welcome to go and learn about Girl Scouting. Sylvia took her two daughters (a Daisy & a Brownie) to the Expo. They had so much fun going to each booth to learn and try an activity. Here are a few cell-phone pictures at a couple of their favorite booths.
Our Daisy girls officially became Girl Scouts!
We learned what it means to respect ourselves and others. We talked about the different ways we show our respect. We made multi-cultural friends. Some friends looked like us, others looked different, and some had special needs. They all needed to be dressed and taken care of, so the girls took care of all of them. We earned the purple petal of our Daisy flower. We also colored small pumpkins for our fall project, and enjoyed home baked fall-shaped cookies.
We learned about the Girl Scout Promise and Law. We made bracelets with the colors of the Daisy petals we will earn this year. Each color represents a different part of the Girl Scout Law. We learned about the GS Friendship Circle and our first Daisy song. We earned the Promise Center patch today. We also celebrated Rita's Birthday.
